Veneers

A completely new smile in just one appointment

Dental veneers are typically used to improve the appearance and symmetry of front teeth. They are a bespoke cosmetic treatment which can transform your smile and improve your confidence without impacting your dental function.

A veneer is like a ‘cover’ for teeth and can be used to mask imperfections such as stains, discolouration, crookedness, damage or gaps. Each veneer is extremely thin and the colour and shape can be  designed to your preference.

Veneers can be made from porcelain, ceramic or composite material and are bonded directly to your natural teeth.

The Treatment

Your mouth and natural teeth will be fully examined to determine suitability for this cosmetic dental treatment. Your dentist will then discuss the colour and shape of veneer you would like, and advise which type of material would best suit your aspirations. You may be offered teeth whitening prior to the veneer treatment to maximise the results.

Before the veneers are bonded into place, your natural teeth will need to be prepared. Our dental team will keep as much of your natural tooth as possible.

Which Veneers are best for you?

Ceramic veneers are strong layers of ceramic material that can be shaped, coloured and completely customised to your preference. Not bulky, they cover any imperfections such as chips and gaps to help create a brighter smile with a natural appearance. If you choose ceramic veneers, we can make and fit these on the same day with our Cerec 3D technology. Prior to bonding the veneers in place, our dentist will ensure you are completely happy with the way they look.

After they have been fitted to the outside surface of your teeth ceramic veneers can last from ten to fifteen years, this depends on personal dental hygiene and upkeep. You use your teeth every single day, and these will be attached to your natural teeth, so dental care remains a necessity for long lasting veneers. If you take care of your veneers, the longer they will last before they need replacing.

Taking care of your Veneers

Once your veneers have been fitted, dental care is of utmost importance. Remembering to practice good oral hygiene by flossing and brushing daily as you would with your natural teeth will help your veneers to last.

As well as regular brushing, try to minimise eating or drinking anything that could stain or damage your veneers. Coffee, tea, red wine and fizzy drinks are a veneer’s worst nightmare, alongside grinding your teeth.

We love seeing patients’ newly transformed smiles, which is why we try to offer the best care and advice possible.
